Rivatuner is essentially a stress test. It is a monitoring program that you might have to download during the beta phase of NVidia CAD or CAD++. It can be an annoying process because Rivatuner does not allow for customizable performance settings according to the user’s desires but instead monitors CPU and GPU usage constantly. Your PC RAM also needs to be in good state.
Rivatuner’s only purposes are to keep track of frame per second (FPS) and monitor the GPU usage. If you find yourself desiring more control over CAD-Link, then Rivatuner is not for you.
Okay, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about how to disable Rivatuner properly. We can’t just remove it from the startup list because that will only allow Rivatuner to start up when you launch CAD-Link itself. Instead, we must take a more direct approach by disabling Rivatuner’s services and network access.

Things You Need to Disable Rivatuner:
First, we must disable Rivatuner’s services.
We’ll do this by opening the Windows Services window and stopping the Rivatuner service. You can either open the Start Menu and type “services” or right-click on “Computer” from your desktop. Choose “Manage” to open the Computer Management window. When the Computer Management window comes up, you will need to expand “Services and Applications,” then right-click on “Services.”
Choose “Properties” from this menu.
Now that you have opened the service properties window scroll down until you find the service you want to change and click on it. In this case, we’ll want to disable Rivatuner, so we’ll click on “RivaTuner Statistics Server.“
Once inside the properties window for that service, you will be greeted with a few tabs. The first tab is “General,” and this is where we will want to make the first change.
Select “Stop” from the “Startup Type: drop-down box and click on apply.
It is how your computer will start up with regards to that specific service.
Automatic, Manual, and Disabled are the three types of startup. Automatic allows the service to start automatically when windows start.
Manual requires you to start up the service manually before windows actually load its services, while disabled prevents the service from loading at all under any circumstances.
Things after disabling Rivatuner
Now that you have disabled Rivatuner open your CAD-Link Client and click on the “Window” tab to uncheck it. You should no longer see Rivatuner’s GUI in the background. For extra security, I recommend removing all shortcuts pertaining to Rivatuner from your desktop, quick launch toolbar, and start menu.
After removing Rivatuner shortcuts, I recommend using Windows Update to ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft Security Essentials (which you should be running if you’re not doing this for gaming anyway).
After that, it’s a matter of finding any other shortcut links that you may have missed.
Last but not least, I would recommend running a full system scan with your preferred antivirus program to make sure that you don’t have any leftovers that might cause problems later on.
I hope this guide has been helpful for those of you who were looking to disable Rivatuner. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please post them in the comments below.
